Dear Friends;
I am pleased to have this opportunity to send greetings to each of you celebrating the
50th anniversary of the Christopher D. Smithers Foundation.
I am grateful for the commitment of Adele Smithers-Fomaci and the Christopher D. Smithers
Foundation to foster a greater understanding of the disease of alcoholism and its affect
on the world community. The essential support and services you provide to individuals
suffering from alcohol addiction enables them to lead productive and active lives. As
community leaders, we must ensure fair and just treatment to the growing number of
individuals seeking help from the disease of alcoholism. Treatment yields important
benefits to both the individual and society. It is my hope that your hard work and
dedication will inspire others across the nation to become actively involved in the
well-being of individuals in their community.
